Full Moon in Leo – January 28th @ 11:16am PST ~ Theme: Where is your Queen/Kingdom?

Full Moon at 9° of Leo  – January 28th @ 11:16am PST

Theme: Where is your Queen/Kingdom?

This week we have our first Full Moon of 2021 – a Full Moon in the sign of Leo alongside a beautiful Sun conjunction with Jupiter. Leo is a regal and heart based sign connected to the archetype of the Queen or King.

Wherever Leo sits in our chart is the area we can really leave our mark through our creative expression. It’s where we own our king/queen nature and can inspire others with our bravery and courage. It’s the area of life we can really pour our hearts into. On the flip side, it’s the area of life we also can become self centred, arrogant and prideful.

We contain every sign within us, and each sign has an empowered and shadow expression. When our Leo side is empowered and healthy, we express our king or queen by following our hearts and inspiring others with our passion and purpose. In the shadow expression, we can be overly prideful and aggressive.

Neither expression is wrong or right, it’s a matter of what feels best to express at any given time.

This week you may notice a more inspired, fiery, flirty and playful energy all around, even with the Moon in opposition to Jupiter. Solar Leo energy is also fun and playful, yet fierce in it’s boundaries. The King or Queen holds a high bar for themselves and others.

We are also in the Mercury Retrograde shadow period, (right before it goes retrograde), you may notice communication go a little wonky when trying to set boundaries and speak your truth.

The Sun – which rules Leo – is conjunct Jupiter this week, so themes related to Jupiter will be highlighted. Jupiter is a fun and playful planet, so overall the enjoyment of this week should be felt by many. (Of course, so much depends on your own personal chart).

Though pay attention to communication and be careful of any aggressive conversations, hold your boundaries high, but soften your heart.

Full Moon Self Reflection Journalling Prompts:

Where is Leo in my chart, which house?

What area of my life is my kingdom?

What area do I feel sovereign over?

Where and how do I express my regal nature?

Where am I the Queen/King of my life?

Where do I want to become the King/Queen of my life?

Learning to read your own chart is super powerful as we can learn so much about ourselves by understanding our own personal placements. It’s a great tool for self understanding and acceptance. (To look up where Leo is in your chart, follow the instructions below)

This Full Moon is also in a hard square aspect to Mars. We may feel impulsive and ready to figuratively ‘burn things down’ in our lives. The heart us not a pure and gentle place, quite often it’s the seat of passion, of our inner fire.

It’s the fire in our hearts that drive us forward toward change. It’s passion that has us connect with others. Let the fire of your heart burn this week!

While this powerful moon occurs we also have Venus Conjunct Pluto, another intense combination. Our love lives may take on a new intensity. We could notice obsessive tendencies in love or control issues, power games or attract a magnetic person to our lives.

Fire Burning Ceremony For Releasing

(Do this under the bright light of the moon if you can)

Prep: Have a pen, paper, glass or metal container filled with water and tweezers on hand.

  1. Cleanse and purify your space by burning rosemary, bayleaf, cedar, sage or any herbs related to your heritage.
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, do breathwork or a guided visualization – anything that works to get you into a meditative space. You can sit at your alter, outside or just somewhere in your home that feels good to you.
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down anything in your life you feel ready to let go of. It can be names of people you want to cut chords with, patterns, old hurts. Space them out so you can cut them up to burn. You may have several listed on the page.
  5. Rip or cut up the words you wrote into separate pieces. Fold each one up individually and burn over the container of water (using the tweezers so you don’t burn your fingers)  As the burns really imagine letting it go. I’ve noticed the ones we’re the most afraid to let go of don’t burn as fast!
  6. Thank the fire for helping you let go and transmute and close the space.
  7. After you’ve done the fire burning, cleanse yourself in water  – have a bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains. You can have a simple shower instead, just envision it all draining and you starting fresh.
  8. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  9. Dance in the moonlight! Celebrate the newness you’ve created by letting go

How does this Full Moon impact you directly? Look at your Rising Sign, then Moon Sign then Sun Sign.

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon

  1. Cleanse your space using smoke cleansing or crystals (try to use herbs from your heritage such as cedar or rosemary). Have a pen and paper handy to write notes.
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing (or person) in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
  5. Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
  6. After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
  7. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  8. Dance in the moonlight!
  9. Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. So it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.

Every Full Moon is a chance to look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your hearts desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.

When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soul, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.

When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
