New Moon in Scorpio ~ November 13, 2023

Theme: Love vs. Fear

By Andrea Dupuis

We are officially out of Eclipse season, and for many of us we are feeling a huge relief, a big PHEW, as we enter a new era. This Monday we have a deep and watery New Moon in Scorpio along with several other powerful and life changing cosmic events. It’s sure to be a powerful New Moon, especially on an internal emotional level.

The Moon is in its fall position (hard dignity) in Scorpio. It’s a challenging placement because the nurturing Moon energies clash with fiery Mars energy. So a lot of emotions can come up to the surface this week, ready to be alchemized.

The zodiac sign Scorpio is traditionally ruled by the planet Mars – the planet of agitation, aggression, ambition, drive and force. The energy of Mars conflicts with the soft, gentle and motherly nature of the Moon. These two together can create intense yet powerful energies. The positive side of Mars is that we can feel more energy and drive now, more ability to move things forward and take action.

Mars is called Her Desher meaning “The Red One” in Egyptian, named so because of its reddish color, similar to that of blood or fire…

This New Moon is in a very tight conjunction with the planet Mars, bringing even more intense and fiery energy. Mars is named after the Roman God of War. In ancient mythology Mars rode on a chariot led by two horses called “Phobos” and “Deimos” those two words mean “Fear and Panic”

These are some of the feelings that may arise during the next week most intensely, and to an even larger degree as Mars comes into a conjunction with the Sun on November 18th – amplifying and shining out that fiery power of Mars.

One of the many battles we’re facing in modern times is the inner spiritual battle. The conflict within us between love and fear, light and dark, soul and ego. All of the dualities. Use this New Moon to focus on your internal landscape and what you’re experiencing within. It’s here we must start making changes.

Scorpio is all about the inner world, so expect a big emphasis on internal matters right now. Scorpio is an introverted and feminine sign. So it’s time to look within, LET go and move forward. Imagine the process of alchemy, this is the gift of Scorpio and its modern ruler – Pluto. To take what is heavy, dark and painful and through self awareness and insight, alchemize it into goodness.

Luckily we also have our benefic Venus just entering into its home sign of Libra – this beautiful and fruitful transit will soften some of the intensity and remind us to also enjoy life, have fun and spread love to others.

Call on the power of Venus right now in your life when things feel heavy and dark. Look up at her in the night sky shining like a bright diamond and remember love, light and joy. Speak your prayers, and remember that there’s always light even in the darker times. Find it within first and spread it to others.

As you dive into alchemizing any old or heavy energies this week within you ask these questions:

  • What do you need to let go of in your life? (This can be as simple as clutter, old clothes, old patterns)
  • What inner conflicts are persistent within you?
  • How do these inner conflicts get projected on others?
  • How does fear and panic show up for you in your life?
  • Where can you soften those fears into a sense of love and connection?

Other transits occurring:

Uranus is in almost exact opposition to this New Moon – the motto here is “Expect the Unexpected”. Something can shift out of nowhere for us and collectively.
