NEW MOON in Libra ~ September 28, 2019 ~ Theme: Love & Relationships

NEW MOON in Libra Report ♎ Saturday Sept 28th @ 11:26 am PT @ 5°

Libra season is upon us, and for those with strong Libra in their chart (or a lot of Air element), this is a welcome reprieve from the heavier and slower energies the past few months. You may notice that you feel more excitable, thoughts come in faster and experience an increase in communication and chattiness.

Libra is one of the most beloved constellations and signs because it’s ruled by the planet Venus, and Venus is one of the most beloved and benefic planets. Venus becomes visible again in the night sky this week too! After the 27/28th (depending on where you live) if you look up you’ll see Venus again as she comes out from behind the Sun’s rays.

Expect an increase in love, romance, and pleasure in the month. Libra is all about partnership, marriage and the other. It’s the natural 7th House ruler, the house of the other, so our focus turns to relationship and connection.

The Sun, Moon and Venus and Mercury are all in Libra this week, so really soak up this beautiful energy.

New relationships can start now (depending on where Libra is in your chart), so if you’re single, get out and date and if you’re with a partner, enjoy a deeper heartfelt connection. Relationships can be either romantic or business relationships.

We’ll all be feeling a lot more pleasure, love and enjoyment in the coming weeks regardless of relationship status. Venus also rules the arts, beauty, good food and wine! The New Moon also occurs at 5° which is the degree associated with attractiveness. You may feel more attractive now and get more attention physically.

While we have this beautiful stellium in Libra, we are also experiencing a Square aspect of Venus to Saturn, Pluto, and Ketu. The most prominent one will be with Saturn, at just 2° apart. Squares create tension and conflict and are considered the hardest aspect to have.

As with all astrological events (and life itself!), we’ll experience the duality of so-called ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ aspects at the same time. I like to think of them not so black and white, but as both helpful on our paths.

Without the harder aspects, we don’t grow ourselves and life becomes rather boring. Without the blessed aspects we’d become sad and want to give up. Both play a role in our evolution.

Whatever comes up in the next while can be deeply karmic or someone from the past can make a re-appearance. The purpose of the square aspect for us to mature in our partnerships and let go of something from the past.

The Square helps us become more responsible and mature in matters of love and partnership. We realize love isn’t always pretty, relationships aren’t always easy and we see clearly the work we need to do in this area.

If there are ways you’re showing up that need to change, now is the time to make the change!

The New Moon is all about setting intentions for this lunar cycle – so consider the relationships in your life – What would you like to call in or change?

Don’t take any action in the days surrounding a New Moon  – they are meant to go inward and reflect. Wait until the Moon is visible again.

Perhaps these two symbolyn cards will help explain the mixed energy of this New Moon:

New Moon Ritual

It’s good to set your intentions on the New Moon but wait until it’s visible again in the sky a few days later to take any actions.

Some astrologers say not to socialise or even leave the house in the days surrounding a new moon. It’s a time for inner contemplation and quietude.

Keep your ritual simple:

  1. Smudge with rosemary or cleanse and purify the space however you like with essential oils or rose spray.
  2. Sit quietly in meditation
  3. Ask yourself “what do I want to create this moon cycle?”
  4. Listen carefully to your heart
  5. Write down images, ideas, and clarity that comes through
  6. Pull tarot cards asking “What energy can help me achieve these intentions?”
  7. Close your ritual space with prayer, gratitude, whatever has you feel complete

What exactly is a New Moon?

A New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are Conjunct – meaning they are together in the same constellation in the sky.

The moon changes signs every couple of days and the sun every month or so. When the two most powerful luminaries conjunct and come together (the Divine Masculine principle represented by the Sun and divine feminine principle, represented by the Moon) it’s a powerful time to plant seeds’ that will be harvested in the full moon in a couple weeks.

It’s also when the Conscious (Sun) and Unconscious (Moon) combine – and we get deep spiritual insights. The unconscious becomes conscious around the New Moon.

Farmers and gardeners who plant by the moon (biodynamic farming, and the ancients knew this of course) know to plant seeds on the New Moon – especially the first day when the moon is completely invisible.

They harvest, prune and weed during the Full Moon when the moon is bright and full.
