FULL MOON in ARIES ~ October 13 ~ THEME ~ Fire & Transformation

Full Moon in Aries Sunday October 13 @ 2:08 pm PST at 20° ♈

Can you feel that FIRE already?

This weekend we’ll experience an intense and fiery Full Moon in Aries. Leading up to it and for a couple of weeks after, you may experience agitation, fights, aggression, less sleep than normal and the feeling of wanting to speak the truth or even lash out in anger.

We’ve been lucky the past while with the smooth and sweet Venus energy and now we’re experiencing the opposite energy as the Moon moves through the constellation of Aries, ruled by the planet Mars.

Mars is known as the Planet of War because of its dark red color (similar to that of blood) and it’s symbol is the ram. Ram’s are known for charging and facing challenges head-on.

When we have heavy Mars placements in our charts, or collectively experience intense Mars energy like we are now – we can feel a battle within ourselves or with others.

This Full Moon will highlight this battle and show us the areas we need to step up, to create boundaries, to speak up and to ‘fight’ in a figurative sense.

If there are areas of your life you’ve not been willing to stand up for yourself, the theme will come to the forefront under the light of this Full Moon. (Please see your Rising Sign below to see what area of life this is occurring for you.)

Aries is not a passive sign, it’s an action-orientated sign, so this Moon will call you into action about something you’ll no longer stand for. The positive traits of Aries, courage, forthrightness, boldness, directness and vibrancy can be used now for good.

This INTENSE Full Moon is not something to be feared, but to be welcomed. You’ll have the energy and the fire to take action, to make changes, to lead the charge.

Channel the energy in a positive way, instead of taking any frustration out on others, use it as fuel for a cause or a mission you’re passionate about.

The anger and frustration we can feel this week are powerful emotions to propel us forward! Ultimately the purpose of war is to secure peace. Take advantage of this fire energy – especially if you’re a water or earth sign or lack fire in your chart. Let go of anything holding you back and step forward powerfully!

Feel the fire energy fully and let it guide you…

Other Astro Notes:

We are also experiencing Venus opposite Uranus, so unexpected events can occur in matters of love, pleasure and money.

We entering Mercury’s shadow period before it goes Retrograde on October 31st. The shadow period, for some, feels stronger than the retrograde period itself. The best use of the shadow period is to get yourself well organized and centered and clean up any communications that you’ve been putting aside.

Instructions for looking up your Rising (Ascendant sign):

If you don’t know your Rising Sign, you can pull up your chart here.

Enter your info… and you’ll get a chart. (Note you must have your accurate birth time to use your rising sign, even two minutes off can change it):

The one on the right with letters ‘ASC’ is your Rising Sign, so look at that first, followed by your Moon Sign: ☽ and your Sun Sign:

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon

  1. Have a pen and paper handy
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
  5. Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
  6. After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
  7. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  8. Dance in the moonlight!
  9. Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. So it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.

Every Full Moon is a chance to look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your heart’s desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.

When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soul, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.

When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
