New Moon in Scorpio – Saturday November 14th @ 9:07pm PT ~ Theme: Emotional Unearthing

New Moon in Scorpio – Saturday November 14th @ 9:07pm PT

Theme: Emotional Unearthing

This Saturday we have a deep and watery New Moon in Scorpio along with several other powerful and life changing cosmic events. It’s sure to be a powerful New Moon on an emotional level.

The Moon is in its fall position in Scorpio. A planet in its fall position is challenged and can’t operate well. The nurturing Moon energy clashes with fiery Mars energy. So a lot of both positive and challenging emotion can come up to the surface this week, ready to be felt.

Mars also goes direct on the 13th, so it’s operating once again at its full capacity in its home sign of Aries. It’s been retrograde since September 9th.

Depending on your own personal placements you could feel a revival of energy and added intensity in your life as Mars makes everything move faster and propels us into action.

This Scorpio New Moon – and all of Scorpio season – is a wonderful time to sit with our feelings, allow them to come to light then alchemize any emotions we’ve not been facing.

The energy of Scorpio is like a flowing river that has frozen over on the top, but under the surface the river runs quickly. Sometimes we need to crack the surface to reveal the intense emotions underneath.

It’s time to crack the ice, and let anything we’ve been holding in come up to the surface. It doesn’t always have to be heavy emotion, sometimes we don’t allow ourselves to feel deep joy and pleasure, especially when we see so many in challenging circumstances.

As we explored during the last Full Moon, Scorpio is deeply connected to the Witch Archetype . This archetype – which exists in all of us – isn’t afraid to dive deep. She isn’t afraid to travel to the underworld of her own psyche and explore it. Once she gains knowledge of what’s happening inside of her, she brings it to the light to be transformed.

She is Kali, she is Pele, she is the dark goddess. She isn’t scared of her own internal world or facing themes of death and rebirth. She celebrates the natural cycles of life. She celebrates the hard times as much as a the beautiful times, and all the variations in between.

When a Scorpio New Moon occurs we’re being called to access the Witch Archetype within us and allow her to come and transform our lives. Don’t be scared to go deep this week.

Through the process of unearthing what’s going on below the surface, and feeling it in our bodies, we can use the new understanding to set intentions for what we want to call into our lives.

Let the powerful emotions come forward!

This New Moon is especially powerful because it takes place a few days from the 3rd Jupiter Pluto conjunction of the year.

Pluto is the modern ruler of Scorpio. This conjunction brings deeper levels of transformation and healing power as Jupiter is the planet of healing.

These two planets conjuncted three times this year. The first conjunction took place on April 5, the second on June 30 and the third and final one (for another 12-13 years) on November 12.

This conjunction will create transformation in Juptarian themes such as money, blessings, good luck. The economy may change as new economic systems are created and the old ones die out. This can happen in our personal lives as well. This is a big cosmic event, so look back at the dates it occurred this year and see if you noticed any changes around those dates.

There is a lot going on this week! Take the days around a New Moon to dive deep into your inner world and set your intentions for the next lunar cycle…  Practice breathwork, yoga, meditation, long baths and other yin type activities.

New Moon Contemplations

What have I not been feeling fully?

What emotions need to come to the surface?

If you set intentions that have actions, it’s best to wait until the Moon is visible again to take action – a couple days after the New Moon.

  1. Cleanse and purify your space by burning rosemary, bayleaf, cedar, sage or any herbs related to your heritage.
  2. Sit quietly in meditation for 10-15mins, or do the Rising Woman Inner Child Meditation (download available in the RW bio).
  3. Ask yourself the New Moon contemplations or simply “What intentions can I set for this lunar cycle?”
  4. Write down images, ideas and clarity that comes through.
  5. Pull tarot or oracle cards asking “What can help me achieve these intentions?”

What exactly is a New Moon?

A New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are Conjunct – meaning they are together in the same constellation in the sky.

The moon changes signs every couple of days and the sun every month or so. When the two most powerful luminaries conjunct and come together (the Divine Masculine principle represented by the Sun and divine feminine principle, represented by the Moon) it’s a powerful time to plant seeds’ that will be harvested in the full moon in a couple weeks.

It’s also when the Conscious (Sun) and Unconscious (Moon) combine – and we get deep spiritual insights. The unconscious becomes conscious around the New Moon.

Farmers and gardeners who plant by the moon (biodynamic farming, and the ancients knew this of course) know to plant seeds on the New Moon – especially the first day when the moon is completely invisible.

They harvest, prune and weed during the Full Moon when the moon is bright and full.
