Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 13° of Capricorn July 4, 2020 9:44 pm PT ~ Theme: Expect the Unexpected

This Saturday/Sunday (depending where you live) we have a Full Moon Eclipse in the sign of Capricorn. We’ve now reached the finale of the three summer eclipses. What a ride it’s been so far!

Similar to the Full Moon Eclipse on June 5th, this is a Penumbral Eclipse, meaning it only appears a little darker than usual as opposed to a full or total eclipse. The slight darkening can be seen from North America.

We have now reached the end of the eclipses on the Capricorn/Cancer Axis where they’ve been occurring since 2018. Much has shifted in the past couple years in the area of our charts Capricorn rules.

During an eclipse – and especially a season with three in close succession – the motto is: Expect the Unexpected.

Big life changes can occur this week especially for those who have the eclipse hit personal points in their chart such as:

  • Those with planets within 5 degrees of the eclipse point (13º of Capricorn)
  • Capricorn Rising
  • Capricorn Sun or Moon
  • Capricorn North/South Node

You may find yourself feeling chaotic, irritable, tired, agitated and sleepy around the eclipse. Alternatively, many of us LOVE the fun and exciting eclipse energy and love riding the flow of new possibilities. We are each so unique, so feel into it for yourself!

Not only is this New Moon eclipse taking place in Capricorn, Saturn has moved back into the sign for the next 6 months adding additional intensity. Saturn joins Jupiter and Pluto, two planets who conjoined earlier this week.

To understand the intensity surrounding this eclipse we need to understand the allusive Capricorn energy.

Capricorn is symbolized by a sea-goat. It’s a mythical creature whose top is goat and the bottom is a fish fin. This is a creature that has two seemingly opposite expressions. One that climbs and one that swims.

The sea-goat symbol is very telling and helps us understand the nature of this eclipse in the sign of Capricorn.

In ancient mythology, the father of all sea-goats, Pricus’ children learned to climb up on the shore and sunbathe. The more they climbed on land, their fins would disappear as their land legs solidified.

He was so scared they’d become land animals and not return to the sea so he used his special powers to turn back time to before they found the land. But his plan fails, and once again they find the land, teaching the lesson that destiny cannot be controlled

The sea-goat reminds us to be steadfast, to climb like a goat and at the same time go with the flow of life. When we get to this point of balance, we are meeting the sweet spot of Capricorn. We can’t control life, we can do our best, but destiny will always play out.

Wherever Capricorn is in our chart is the area we need to create this balance.

Full Moon Contemplation:

What metaphorical mountain can I climb in my life? And where can I allow more flow? What is the sweet spot here?

Eclipses aren’t the best time to do the typical set intentions or release ceremonies. It’s best to rest and meditate around eclipse time. Wait to sign contracts or make firm commitments until a few weeks post eclipse.

This week we also have the second conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto. These two planets conjunct three times this year. The first conjunction took place on April 5, second on June 30 and third on November 12.

This conjunction will create transformation in Juptarian themes such as money, blessings, good luck. The economy may change as new economic systems are created and the old ones die out. This can happen in our personal lives as well.
