Full Moon at 8° Libra

March 28, 2021, 11:48am EST/2:48 Pm PST

Theme:  Releasing Relationship Patterns

This week we have an airy Full Moon in the sign of Libra opposite the planet Venus. Not only will this Full Moon will trigger our money and relationship patterns, it’ll bring them to light to be healed and cleared.

This Full Moon is in a soft trine aspect to both Saturn and Mars, they are offering support as we go through this process. Saturn helps us take authority over our love lives, and Mars supports us to take action on the changes.

Libra is the natural ruler of the 7th house – the astrological house associated with marriage and partnerships (including business partnerships and clients). It’s the house of ‘we’ and ‘us’.

The opposite house – where the Sun currently is – is the 1st house, ruled by Aries. The 1st house is the house of ‘I’ and ‘me’. It’s where we are on our own, independent and creating our own path in life.

We all dance between the extremes of these two houses: between the desire to be free and the desire to merge with others. Relationships are a constant act of balancing the wants and needs of others with our own.

If we live too much in the 7th house we can become co-dependent, afraid to be alone or venture away from others. We may need constant reassurance that we’re ok and fall into relationships because we are afraid to be alone.

On the other hand, if we live too much in the 1st house we have a hard time letting people in. We may be hyper independent and lean toward doing what we want when we want without consideration of others.

The 1st/7th house axis asks us to lean into balance and find the middle ground between the amount of connection and separation that feels right for us.

All of life is about relationships – whether with ourselves, the earth, others, spirit. We’re being shown in a big way this week the importance of balancing our primal desire to merge with others with our desire to be a separate and free sovereign being.

The Sun is also conjunct Chiron in Aries this week. Chiron is an asteroid that represents our biggest wound, and yet our greatest opportunity for growth.

Like the famous line from Sufi poet Rumi: “The Wound is Where The Light Enters You” Chiron creates magic out of our deepest wounds. It also represents what we’re here to help others heal.

Overall, this Full Moon is bringing our relationship wounds to the surface to be healed and worked through. If possible this weekend take some time to write out and release old patterns.

Full Moon Journaling Prompts

What relationship patterns am I done with that still show up for me?

What do I feel tired of in relationships?

What am I not able to let go of in the area of relationships?

Other important astrological notes: On March 26 we also have a very important conjunction between Mars and Rahu (aka the North Node of the Moon). These two get along quite well, so we may experience a clear and pronounced moving forward energy around us wherever in our charts this conjunction occurs. Rahu symbolizes our fate, and yet is the part of our charts we feel the most lost and chaotic. Use the strength and assertion of Mars to move forward any plans this weekend.

Fire Burning Ceremony For Releasing

(Do this under the bright light of the moon if you can)

Prep: Have a pen, paper, glass or metal container filled with water and tweezers on hand.

  1. Cleanse and purify your space by burning rosemary, bayleaf, cedar, sage or any herbs related to your heritage.
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, do breathwork or a guided visualization – anything that works to get you into a meditative space. You can sit at your alter, outside or just somewhere in your home that feels good to you.
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down anything in your life you feel ready to let go of. It can be names of people you want to cut chords with, patterns, old hurts. Space them out so you can cut them up to burn. You may have several listed on the page.
  5. Rip or cut up the words you wrote into separate pieces. Fold each one up individually and burn over the container of water (using the tweezers so you don’t burn your fingers)  As the burns really imagine letting it go. I’ve noticed the ones we’re the most afraid to let go of don’t burn as fast!
  6. Thank the fire for helping you let go and transmute and close the space.
  7. After you’ve done the fire burning, cleanse yourself in water  – have a bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains. You can have a simple shower instead, just envision it all draining and you starting fresh.
  8. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  9. Dance in the moonlight! Celebrate the newness you’ve created by letting go

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon

  1. Cleanse your space using smoke cleansing or crystals (try to use herbs from your heritage such as cedar or rosemary). Have a pen and paper handy to write notes.
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing (or person) in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
  5. Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
  6. After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
  7. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  8. Dance in the moonlight!
  9. Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. So it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.

Every Full Moon is a chance to look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your hearts desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.

When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soul, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.

When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
