Full Moon in Virgo Monday March 9th @ 19° 10:48am PST
Collectively let’s sigh a big sigh of relief this month as the moon travels into the sign of Virgo, where we’ll have a beautiful Full Moon.
The sign of Virgo is often thought of as people who are super organized and clean freaks. The reason Virgo is associated with these things is based on the ancient origins of the Virgo symbol of a virgin.
In ancient times a virgin represents the highest ideal of purification. In modern times, the sign of Virgo still echoes this ancient understanding of purity, though the spiritual roots have been extracted from the understanding.
Virgo is so much more than cleanliness and rules, it’s about cleansing on a deep soul level.
Purification can happen in many ways – through ritual, through cleansing, smoke from sage, through trauma release, breathwork. There are many ways to purify our lives and bodies.
There’s no greater time to do this then a Virgo Full Moon in the springtime right near the equinox.
This Full Moon asks us to look at the area in our life where purification needs to take place. Is it your home needing to be de-cluttered? Your relationships? Your career? Your body?
This Full Moon will highlight this area of your life as the Sun (consciousness) shines on the Moon (the unconscious) bringing shadow material to the light to be cleansed and cleared. See your Rising sign for the area to focus your cleansing on.
This Full Moon also has very beautiful and soft aspects from several other planets, adding even more freshness and warmth:
Moon Trine Mars: Positive for taking action, making bold changes
Moon Trine Uranus: Expect the unexpected! Changes.
Moon Trine Jupiter: Blessings and Spiritual knowledge
The only challenging aspect is an opposition to Neptune, which can create a bit of sleepiness, some disillusionment or intense dreams, watch out for overconsumption of alcohol, stimulants, sugar etc.,
The ruler of Virgo – Mercury, is also stationing direct in Aquarius day after the Full Moon. This is another big sigh of relief for anyone impacted by Mercury Retrogrades (note, not all of us are impacted. It depends where it falls in your chart, it’s aspects etc., many thrive during Mercury Retrograde!)
Mercury is in it’s exaltation in the sign of Aquarius where it’s happy and content and forward moving, leaving Pisces where it’s been in detriment. So do expect communications to generally run smoother now.

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon:
- Have a pen and paper handy
- Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
- Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
- When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
- Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
- After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
- Put on some nice fun dancey music
- Dance in the moonlight!
- Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?
A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. Si it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.
Every Full Moon is a chance to look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your hearts desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.
When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soul, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.
When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
