Full Moon in Pisces – September 1, 2020 @ 10:44pm PT  ~ Theme: Letting Go of Destructive Patterns

Full Moon at 10° of Pisces – September 1, 2020 @ 10:44pm PT

For many days before and after the Full Moon in Pisces, we may find ourselves more tired than normal, emotional and in tune with the subtler energies of life. We can feel very sensitive and want to spend time internally focused.

Pisces rules the 12th house, the house related to the dreamworld and spirituality. It’s also a hidden house, so we may find ourselves wanting to withdraw.

Full Moon’s are typically a time where we feel more outward focused, but with the watery, yin, Piscean energy this week, we may find we may feel called to spend more time alone connecting with ourselves.

Neptune is the ruler of Pisces in modern astrology. Neptune has two sides to it: one side is a higher octave of Venus and represents divine unconditional love, the other side is more destructive.

The shadow side of Neptune is experienced when we forget our connection to love, spirit, our higher selves, god, consciousness, whatever we may call it. When we forget to connect to this side of life, Neptune creates a sense of fogginess (where we can’t see clearly) around everything and can lead us into compulsive or destructive behaviour.

It’s important to take time to connect to something bigger than ourselves this week and keep sight of the bigger purpose of life, so we don’t fall into old destructive patterns.

Our dream life can feel especially powerful this Full Moon, so pay attention to any insights you get from dreams. Write them down as you may be surprised by the messages coming through!

Full Moon Contemplation:

What destructive patterns can I let go of?

What is my connection to divine, source, my higher consciousness, god? What is in the way of deepening the connection? How can I connect more?

A Full Moon illuminates parts of our unconscious we can’t always access so we can finally let go. It’s a powerful time to let go of something for good.

The Full Moon also receives a positive aspect to the planet Uranus, which brings change and upheaval. You can expect a positive change around this moon especially in areas related to your spirituality. It can look like a shift in perspective, a positive message, or a subtle internal shift.

We are also gearing up to Mars going retrograde on September 9. Retrograde planets can bring mixed results. They can bring either an extreme outward expression of the planetary traits, or an inward expression of the traits. Whereas direct planets operate in a normal functional way, retrogrades express the either or both extremes.

For example, someone can have a Mars retrograde in their birth chart and appear very aggressive. Others may have Mars retrograde and have repressed aggression, they may even appear meek. Retrogrades show the extremes of each planetary effect.

No matter what, when a planet goes Retrograde, themes related to it, and the houses it rules will be prominent!

During a Mars retrograde, we may feel less motivated than normal and have less inner fire to make things happen. Or we may feel just the opposite, we may feel a ton of fire and energy, and readiness to take charge. Mars is the Planet of War, so expect some further tension and aggression for the next few months.

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon

  1. Have a pen and paper handy
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing (or person) in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
  5. Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
  6. After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
  7. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  8. Dance in the moonlight!
  9. Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. So it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.

Every Full Moon is a chance to look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your hearts desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.

When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soul, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.

When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
