Theme: Purify Your Life
The constellation of Virgo is one of the most misunderstood of the twelve zodiac signs. Most people think of Virgo as a detailed, type-A, uptight, clean and pure sign – and many of those traits are Virgoian. However, Virgo energy is so much more than that. It’s one of the most spiritually insightful and underrated signs in the zodiac.
Virgo is represented by an image of a Virgin – In Greek translations, the word virgin meant “one unto herself.” Virgo is the archetype of the High Priestess – a woman who is so pure and devoted to herself and the truth and to the spiritual realms she receives clear information from the divine. Her purity helps her see with sacred vision.
With a New Moon in Virgo, it’s time to use the virgin archetype to purify our lives. We may feel compelled to purify our homes, our bodies, our thoughts, emotions etc.,
We can create a new start in the area of our bodies, our daily routines and our health. If you’ve been wanting a new exercise routine, a cleanse, or to declutter – now is a great time!
Use the energy of Virgo to clean up your life physically and metaphorically. Every fall (or spring in the southern hemisphere), the Virgo New Moon comes along and pushes us to organize ourselves and our lives before winter.
This New Moon makes a nice aspect to Saturn which means the changes we make now can stick in the long term.
Mars (The planet of war) is also now officially retrograde and square Saturn (The lord of Karma). These intense energies can be felt as arguments, aggression, feeling uneasy, little spats with friends, family and neighbours and a general sense of frustration.
If there’s areas of your life where you feel frustrated, use the soft and helpful Virgo New Moon to clear and clean them up for good. A classic example of Virgo season would be getting your taxes in order, or having a conversation with a friend about things that aren’t working, or getting rid of clothes you no longer wear.
New Moon Contemplation:
What areas of life do you feel frustrated about? How can you purify those areas?
Jupiter also went direct in Capricorn on September 12th after being retrograde since mid-May.. Even though it’s not the strongest Jupiter (being debilitated in Capricorn) we can feel our luck change and things start to move forward. Many blessings can be experienced this month!

What exactly is a New Moon?
A New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are Conjunct – meaning they are together in the same constellation in the sky.
The moon changes signs every couple of days and the sun every month or so. When the two most powerful luminaries conjunct and come together (the Divine Masculine principle represented by the Sun and divine feminine principle, represented by the Moon) it’s a powerful time to plant seeds’ that will be harvested in the full moon in a couple weeks.
It’s also when the Conscious (Sun) and Unconscious (Moon) combine – and we get deep spiritual insights. The unconscious becomes conscious around the New Moon.
Farmers and gardeners who plant by the moon (biodynamic farming, and the ancients knew this of course) know to plant seeds on the New Moon – especially the first day when the moon is completely invisible.
They harvest, prune and weed during the Full Moon when the moon is bright and full.
