FULL MOON in TAURUS ~ November 12th ~ Theme: Material and Spiritual Balance ~

This Full Moon highlights our sensual desire, self worth and how we feel about ourselves in a sweet and light way.

The Moon is exalted in Taurus, where it feels good. So expect a softer gentler and more enjoyable Full Moon this month compared to the intensity last month when the Moon was in her fall in Scorpio.

The Sun is currently in the sign of Scorpio, therefore, highlighting this Scorpio/Taurus Axis. A Full Moon is when the Sun is in one sign, and the Moon is in the opposite sign.

Taurus and Scorpio are opposite signs, yet very complementary. Both are Yin and Fixed. Both are receptive signs and yet quite stuck in their ways.

Taurus is the archetype of the Courtesan, she’s earthy and loves sensual pleasure. She’s very earthbound and in her body. Think of a beautiful woman eating grapes by the sea on a sunny day! She loves finer things, possessions and feeling good.

Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, the planet of love. One reason she ‘gets along’ with the Moon so well is the Moon and Venus play nice together.

Scorpio, on the other hand, is more interested in the psychological realms, the occult, the deep mysteries of life and is co-ruled by Pluto and Mars (traditionally.)

I wrote about the archetype of Scorpio last New Moon, as she is the Archetype of the Witch. Check it out for more info.

While Taurus shows us to enjoy sensual pleasure in a grounded material way, Scorpio teaches us to dive beyond the surface and to tap into our deeper knowing. Where Taurus is earthbound, she desires to be free spiritually, where Scorpio is focused on transformation she yearns to feel grounded in the material realm.

We all have this Scorpio/Taurus axis occur somewhere in our chart depending on where your rising sign is. It’s a great practice to ponder how the Scorpio/Taurus energies play out in your life and your birth chart.

This Full Moon asks – How can you balance your material life and spiritual life? How can both coexist? If you tend to be more on the Taurus side, ask how can you dive deeper. And if you’re more on the Scorpio side, how can you be more in your body and enjoy day-to-day life?

It’s important to note – there’s a very rare astronomical event on November 11th, the day before the Full Moon.

The planet Mercury transits in front of the sun (an event that doesn’t happen again until 2032! And only happens 13 times this century) if you get a chance to catch the live video online please do.

It’s my belief any planet close to the sign in our charts or by transit are amplified by the Sun’s rays. So communication will be amplified along with other mercurial things such as business, talking, mental energy and our minds. Mercury rules our mental quickness, humour and insights.

Mercury is also currently retrograde (meaning it appears as if it’s moving backwards in the sky) which makes it even stronger. Themes related to communication will be heightened right now especially for the Mercury-ruled signs: Gemini and Virgo. Now’s the time to speak up about anything you’ve been holding back! The planets are aligning in your favour and don’t be surprised if you have many deep talks the next couple weeks along with lots of texts, emails, calls etc.,

Instructions for looking up your Rising (Ascendant sign):

If you don’t know your Rising Sign, you can pull up your chart here:

Enter your info… and you’ll get a chart. (Note you must have your accurate birth time to use your rising sign, even two minutes off can change it):

The one on the right with letters ‘ASC’ is your Rising Sign, so look at that first, followed by your Moon Sign: ☽ and your Sun Sign: ☉

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon

Have a pen and paper handy
Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
Put on some nice fun dancey music
Dance in the moonlight!
Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. So, it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.

Every Full Moon is a chance to a look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your hearts desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.

When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soil, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.

When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
