Have you been overthinking a decision lately? Perhaps you feel good about it one day, then paralyzed by fear the next—you take a few steps forward, second-guess yourself, and run back.
If you’ve been weighing your options, gathering information, consulting others and still have no idea what to do—this week’s New Moon in Gemini is here—not to provide absolute clarity per se, but to show us that we can continue moving forward without having all the answers.
Two weeks ago, the Full Moon in Sagittarius gave us the courage to trust our instincts—even if they didn’t make sense. Now, in the aftermath of such boldness, the anxiety has set in. Without confirmation or validation, hesitation and regret can take over—this doesn’t necessarily mean we made the wrong choice, only that we have not yet reached a place of conviction and trust.
Too often, we equate uncertainty with misalignment and believe that if we aren’t sure about something, it must be wrong for us. However, clarity rarely arrives like a lightning strike—it develops gradually over time as we monitor our emotional states and asses how certain people and situations make us feel.
Therefore, this New Moon in Gemini is teaching us that pressuring ourselves to have it all figured out only leads to decisions that do not sit right in our hearts. When we give things time and space to unfold, clarity naturally arises, and sometimes, this means exploring more than one option until the right one becomes apparent.
Because this New Moon will occur in an exact conjunction with Venus, the planet of love, while at the same time squaring Saturn, the planet of restriction, we may feel this tension more prominently in our close relationships—especially as it concerns commitment and revealing our true feelings.
When Saturn connects with the Moon or Venus, we feel more reserved when it comes to following our hearts and may hold ourselves back, approaching others with immense caution and defensiveness. When we embody this energy, vulnerability seems like a trap—Saturn runs a cost/benefit analysis, and the costs are incredibly steep, with potential failure, disappointment, and loss of freedom topping the list.
This is usually when we start to feel like we’re running back and forth. We may want the closeness and companionship of a relationship but fear growing dependent on someone else. We may crave intimacy and deep connection but worry our wounds will be used against us.
We are of two minds.
Gemini is the sign of the twins and, therefore, well-versed in the art of duality. Like other air signs, it spends most of its time in the mind, analyzing facts, weighing opinions, and attempting to come to rational conclusions. This approach can be helpful when choosing a vacation spot or making a significant purchase, but Gemini’s hungry mind gets into trouble when it comes to matters of the heart.
In some situations, more thinking only leads to confusion and panic. If our thoughts are taking us in circles, we may need to explore how something feels over time.
The beautiful thing about Gemini energy is that it allows us to sit with conflicting and contradictory ideas and emotions—to try them on for a little while and see what works and what doesn’t. Eventually, an accumulation of positive feelings and experiences will lead us to the clarity and certainty we’re searching for. But this can’t happen in isolation—we can’t think our way out of an emotional problem.
Sometimes, we must travel multiple paths before we know which we prefer. This doesn’t mean being dishonest or inconsistent; it means experimenting with new ways of being and checking in with ourselves to see how they’re landing. It also means communicating openly with others involved about where we’re at—not saying what they want to hear or trying to buy ourselves time with half-truths and white lies.
Many of us look to astrology for answers when aspects of our lives feel uncertain and unclear. We believe a specific transit will solve our problems or shift events in our favour…
While the energy of astrological events can create optimal conditions for certain developments, it is still our responsibility to take action and actively engage in the learning process.
This is what this New Moon is about—the willingness to explore and participate without needing to know what will happen next.
Remember, all rivers eventually find the ocean—all paths ultimately lead to the same destination.
Self Reflection Questions:
What do I feel pressure to commit to? Have I explored other options?
What situations or topics cause me to withdraw or shut down? What truth am I running from?
What am I feeling most anxious about? Is there any action I can take?
What do I need to feel confident about a decision I’m struggling with?

Ritual For Using Emotional Experiences To Make Decisions
Many of us run into problems when we try to use facts and logic to make important decisions—this mindset is more often based on what we should do, not what is best for us or what we want.
Identifying and recording how we feel over time can help us determine which path is right for us. We may feel excited about something one day, then commit too quickly and realize we made a mistake three weeks later. While waiting for clarity may not seem glamorous, neither is having to go back on promises we can’t keep—over time, this only erodes trust in ourselves and within our relationships.
Over the next month, as you explore your options, record your emotional response to what transpires. Describe what you experience in your body as best you can—you can use the list of emotions below to help you. Try focusing on feelings of expansion versus restriction, safety versus anxiety, authenticity versus falseness. Did you feel open and like yourself with a certain person or a tightness in your chest as you searched for the right thing to say?
As you begin to gather evidence about your emotional experiences, it should become clearer which relationships and situations are aligned with your path.
