Does it feel like the energy is changing directions or a door is suddenly about to open?
On May 23, we have a full moon in the early degrees of Sagittarius that will accelerate whatever has been unfolding over the past six months and initiate a turn of events or change in fortune.
Many of us have been patiently waiting for our manifestations to come to fruition and for our hard work to pay off. There is a feeling of tension and anticipation in the air—that something is about to shift, that it must shift.
This full moon will be characterized by rapid communication and unexpected opportunities that will finally thrust us into the new timelines we’ve been waiting for.
It also will be extremely lucky, as Sagittarius’ ruler, Jupiter, will form a conjunction with Venus in the final degree of Taurus just hours beforehand.
Even if you have felt this coming, you may still be doubting and second-guessing, searching for signs, and ruminating on worst-case scenarios.
Sagittarius’ archetype is the Seeker—it wants to come to the truth through tangible experience and gathering information. For this reason, those with major placements in this sign are often drawn to higher learning, teaching, and travel.
Sagittarius believes that truth must be sought out, so it has trouble trusting its gut feelings without supporting facts and research. Even though a Sagittarius’ first instincts are typically more accurate than other signs, they can become stuck in cycles of needing to know more before making decisions. When this happens, opportunities may pass them by.
Therefore, it will be essential to trust your inner authority in order to take advantage of this week’s opportunities.
Sagittarius is also ruled by Jupiter—the planet of luck and abundance. Jupiter is associated with the Wheel of Fortune in the Tarot. This card’s appearance often generates mixed reactions because it insinuates an incoming change beyond our control.
The wheel is impartial and sometimes random, churning out situations and circumstances we can choose to act on. It represents the intersection of fate and free will as the universe invites us to accept an opportunity or spin again.
Now, the wheel is about to pause, giving us the chance to say “yes” or “no” to something. For some, this has been a long time coming—for others, it may appear out of nowhere. In either case, there will be no time for deliberation or overthinking as many of us will be called to make a split-second decision and leap empty-handed into the void.
Venus Conjunct Jupiter in Taurus
During a full moon, the Moon and Sun sit opposite in the sky. In this case, the Sun in the early degrees of Gemini will be conjunct Venus and Jupiter in the final degree of Taurus. The last degree of a sign is known as the degree of fate and represents the culmination of a journey. In this case, this degree will be activated by the full moon, so events that transpire may be related to the Jupiter in Taurus story that began in May 2023.
Jupiter in Taurus taught us the value of perseverance and security—so it could be that something you’ve been working steadily toward suddenly falls into place, like setting the final brick in a wall.
Jupiter will leave Taurus and enter Gemini on May 25, so this lunation may also effectively wrap up a year of expansion and growth related to material security and self-worth.
Connections between Venus and Jupiter can also stimulate our creative and romantic impulses, so we may feel a strong desire to express ourselves, whether that’s through art, music, or writing. If you’ve been holding back your feelings, you may now find it hard to contain them—this can be an incredibly sentimental transit!
Communication will be favoured, and you may be on the receiving end of unexpected messages or even send some yourself…
Because Sagittarius values truth and honesty, it is a good time to get things off your chest and share how you feel. Since this conjunction will also be in a harmonious sextile with Neptune, it will soften our words and help us empathize with others, creating the optimal environment for healing conversations.
Ultimately, the energy of this full moon feels exciting and auspicious. Many of us are hoping for a breakthrough after the chaos of the eclipses and the slower pace of Taurus season. Release the need to know what will happen next and open yourself to whatever opportunities unfold over the coming days.
And if the wheel spins in your favour, don’t think—just do.
Self Reflection Questions:
Examine your relationship to uncertainty—in which areas of your life are you more comfortable with unexpected change? In which areas is change more frightening?
Think back to a time when you trusted your gut, and it all worked out—what did that feel like? How did you know you made the right decision?
What have you been holding back recently or afraid to say? Why?
Who this Full Moon will impact the most:
Sagittarius sun, moon, and rising
Gemini sun, moon, and rising
Taurus sun, moon, and rising
Pisces sun, moon, and rising
Decision Making Practices
Many of us struggle with decision-making because we have lost touch with our higher self and core values. Instead of going inward, we seek answers outside ourselves by consulting others or conducting research. The weight of responsibility and expectations also become a factor as we consider what we should do or how others may perceive our choices. All of this leads to tension and anxiety, taking us further from our inner guidance.
Re-learning to trust yourself is a process that takes time. There are several practices you can use to help develop this skill when you need to make a decision quickly:
- Ask for a sign. Choose two animals, objects, or numbers: one to represent each option. Ask the universe to reveal one to you so you know you are on the right path. Try to pick something meaningful that is not overly common so that you are less likely to doubt yourself when it appears.
- Pull some cards. Use an oracle or tarot deck to pull cards related to each option. You might ask, “What will happen if I choose A?” Or “How will my life change if I choose B?”
- Write each option on a piece of paper, place them face down or in a bag, then draw one. What is your first reaction when you see your selection? Is it disappointment, relief, or excitement? If you feel disappointed, it may be clear where your heart is.
