Theme: What Are You Devoted to?
by Andrea Dupuis
This week we have a Full Moon in the sign of Virgo. The sign of Virgo is connected to the feminine archetype of the High Priestess. The High Priestess archetype is all about devotion to her spiritual path. Because of her devotion and commitment to purity she is a sacred vessel for the divine so she receives spiritual knowledge through her dreams, intuition and insights.
Each of the zodiac signs is represented by an archetype, and each of us has within us all 12 archetypes to varying degrees depending on our own charts. Somewhere in our charts we all have Virgo, and we all embody the High Priestess archetype to a degree. When we have Virgo placements this archetype will be an important one in our lives. So if you’re Sun, Moon or Rising is in Virgo you may resonate deeply with the empowered and shadow aspects of this archetype.
When the moon is transiting through a particular sign, the archetype gets activated for the collective. We are here to learn, to grow and develop and each planetary transit is a part of our learning path.
Virgo asks us to look at our devotions – whether it be to a cause, a mission, a belief system, a spiritual path. When we’re in the empowered side of the archetype this can be selfless service to a calling greater than us, when we’re in the shadow aspect we can be so devoted to something we become judgemental, nit picky and our devotion becomes a detriment to our health and wellness.
When the Moon transits Virgo we can ask ourselves:”What are we most devoted to in our lives?” and “Is my devotion to this person, activity, cause etc., healthy for me?”
We may for example find ourselves devoted to a relationship that’s not serving us anymore, or a belief system that’s creating big challenges in our life, or a career that’s causing us health issues, or it could be as small as a belief we have about ourselves or a negative mindset.
Whatever it is, be honest with yourself: where have you been putting your focus and has it been a positive devotion? When we can anchor into a positive devotion, Virgo energy can be used for good.
Virgo is the natural Ruler of the 6th house – the house that represents the body and our daily routines. Now might be the time to devote ourselves to a new exercise regimen, to clean out old boxes of stuff, to tidy up the yard. We may feel motivated to make changes to our health and routines this week.
A healthy body and clear mind allows for the High Priestess to channel in clear messages. This Full Moon, you can utilise this energy to cleanse, purity and heal your body. This is a great time for a cleanse, be it a body cleanse or a mental cleanse off social media or TV.
Virgo is also ruled by the planet Mercury, the planet of communications. You may feel the need to connect with others more, to send that message, to reach out to friends and to be more social. Trust your instinct.
It’s also a positive aspect to Pluto which means the changes you make around this Full Moon with your health can have positive long lasting transformation. You can use the energy of Pluto to make changes you’ve struggled to make for a while.
Venus/Mars Conjunction Square Uranus
During this Full Moon we also have Mars in close conjunction with Venus adding an additional later to the feeling of this Full Moon – they are 2 degrees apart and separating further apart daily. Venus is all about pleasure, enjoyment and love, Mars is the planet of War, of aggression and on the positive side of ‘making things happen’. When these two conjunct it’s called “A Planetary War” as they are such different planets and are not considered friends in ancient astrology.
In modern astrology they represent the immature or young masculine and feminine, whereas the Sun and Moon represent the older and matured masculine and feminine. When Venus and Mars are in conjunction our love lives can feel very out of balance and challenged. We can get in more fights than normal, we can feel angry and combative. We can act immaturely and present the shadow sides of each planet.
For Venus the shadow side is overspending, selfishness and superficiality, for Mars the shadow side is anger, fighting and aggression. With this aspect in a hard Square aspect to Venus/Mars you can expect the unexpected in love, money and war this week. This will start easing up in the next couple of weeks and Venus will enter Pisces on April 6th where it’s exalted.

Fire Burning Full Moon Ritual for Releasing
(Do this under the bright light of the moon if you can)
Prep: Have a pen, paper, glass or metal container filled with water and tweezers on hand.
-
- Cleanse and purify your space by burning rosemary, bayleaf, cedar, sage or any herbs related to your heritage.
- Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, do breathwork or a guided visualization – anything that works to get you into a meditative space. You can sit at your alter, outside or just somewhere in your home that feels good to you.
- Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
- When you feel ready to write down anything in your life you feel ready to let go of. It can be names of people you want to cut chords with, patterns, old hurts. Space them out so you can cut them up to burn. You may have several listed on the page.
- Rip or cut up the words you wrote into separate pieces. Fold each one up individually and burn over the container of water (using the tweezers so you don’t burn your fingers) As the burns really imagine letting it go. I’ve noticed the ones we’re the most afraid to let go of don’t burn as fast!
- Thank the fire for helping you let go and transmute and close the space.
- After you’ve done the fire burning, cleanse yourself in water – have a bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains. You can have a simple shower instead, just envision it all draining and you starting fresh.
- Put on some nice fun dancey music
- Dance in the moonlight! Celebrate the newness you’ve created by letting go
