New Moon in Gemini Friday May 22, 2020 @ 10:39am PT
This week we have a lovely light bright and optimistic New moon in Gemini. It’s a nice relief after many months of challenges. We can all sigh a breath of relief and enjoy the lighthearted energy of a Gemini New Moon.
The ruler of Gemini, Mercury, is in its home sign here, making this a very positive new Moon where new possibilities can start showing up. If you’ve felt stuck now is the time it can finally shift!
Mercury is also meeting up with Venus retrograde giving an even more positive and enjoyable flavor to this New Moon. Enjoy this fast and free feeling energy. Have some lighthearted fun this week!
We can feel excitable, optimistic and experience lots of profound ideas dropping in this week and through the weekend.
Mercury is the fastest moving planet. For this reason, it’s considered the great ‘cosmic messenger.’ It’s related to the Greek god Hermes – the messenger of the gods.
Mercury comes carrying divine messages for us all in the form of good news. The ancients also considered it lucky and a planet associated with wealth.
Now is a great time to plant the seeds for the next lunar cycle. With a trine to Saturn, any manifestations we’re wanting call in can stabilize now.
New Moon Contemplation: What do I want to create in my life? What ideas can I act upon?
Wait to take action until the moon is visible again a couple days after the New Moon.
This is the last New Moon before the lunar eclipse in June. We can start feeling the impact of the eclipse season now. The first eclipse occurs on June 5, 2020 in the sign of Sagittarius. It’s a Penumbral eclipse so not super strong. The more prominent ones occur late June and early July.
The June and July eclipses are the last to take place on the Capricorn/Cancer axis where the eclipses have been happening since July 2018. This axis highlights home/work feminine/masculine energies. During the next month these themes can be heightened once again and we may revisit all the many events that have happened since summer 2018!
This New Moon will impact Gemini Rising Sun and Moon and Virgo Rising Sun and Moon the most.

What exactly creates a New Moon?
A New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are Conjunct – meaning they are together in the same constellation in the sky.
The moon changes signs every couple of days and the sun every month or so. When the two most powerful luminaries conjunct and come together (the Divine Masculine principle represented by the Sun and divine feminine principle, represented by the Moon) it’s a powerful time to plant seeds’ that will be harvested in the full moon in a couple weeks.
It’s also when the Conscious (Sun) and Unconscious (Moon) combine – and we get deep spiritual insights. The unconscious becomes conscious around the New Moon.
Farmers and gardeners who plant by the moon (biodynamic farming, and the ancients knew this of course) know to plant seeds on the New Moon – especially the first day when the moon is completely invisible.
They harvest, prune and weed during the Full Moon when the moon is bright and full.
