New Moon at 4° of Aquarius – Friday January 24, 2019 @ 1:42pm PST
This month’s New Moon is simple and much less complicated than in the previous months. The Sun enters Aquarius this month bringing in a lighter brighter energy than the very heavy and chaotic Capricorn stellium season. Wahoo.
This is a beautiful break for many of us!
All planets are now direct, so we will all feel the forward motion. Projects that haven’t been running smoothly can now move forward, conversations can happen, you may feel a burst of energy toward a goal, clarity can come.
Aquarius is an Air sign traditionally ruled by Saturn (modernly ruled by Uranus) and can be a confusing sign to grasp. It’s both rebellious and constricted, intellectual and outrageous, contained and quick, revolutionary and traditional.
Having dual rulership explains these contrasting traits. Saturn is rigid and restrained and serious. Uranus is quick, moving and quirky.
It’s much like having your foot on the gas and pedal at the same time. Uranus recently went direct so we can feel this energy prominently right now, we are ready to charge forth.
This New Moon has a prominent challenging aspect. The Moon is Square Uranus. A Square creates tension and conflict.
Uranus likes to be free, radical and do what it likes. It brings change and revolution. Aquarius also carries this energy, yet with restraint and an acknowledgement of the rules and structures.
When Uranus and the Moon Square you may experience sudden emotional outbursts, chaotic feelings and events that feel out of hand. This energy is not much different than we felt during the recent eclipses.
So while this New Moon is somewhat gentle and clear, expect the unexpected! The biggest changes are likely to occur on the mental level.
Either you’ll receive a new idea via logic and insight or something brand new will unexpectedly come in, depending where Aquarius is placed in your chart.
Because this New Moon is happening at 4°, the Cancer Degree, we can feel more sensitive, emotional and sentimental than usual.
Apply Aquarian logic to any emotional situations that arise and you’ll make it through smoothly 🙂

Ask yourself “what do I want to create this moon cycle?”
Listen carefully to your heart
Write down images, ideas and clarity that comes through
Pull tarot cards asking “What can help me achieve these intentions?”
Close your ritual space with prayer, gratitude, whatever has you feel complete
Note – don’t take actions on your intentions until the Moon is visible again 2-3 days after the New Moon
What exactly is a New Moon?
A New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are Conjunct – meaning they are together in the same constellation in the sky.
The moon changes signs every couple of days and the sun every month or so. When the two most powerful luminaries conjunct and come together (the Divine Masculine principle represented by the Sun and divine feminine principle, represented by the Moon) it’s a powerful time to plant seeds’ that will be harvested in the full moon in a couple weeks.
It’s also when the Conscious (Sun) and Unconscious (Moon) combine – and we get deep spiritual insights. The unconscious becomes conscious around the New Moon.
Farmers and gardeners who plant by the moon (biodynamic farming, and the ancients knew this of course) know to plant seeds on the New Moon – especially the first day when the moon is completely invisible.
They harvest, prune and weed during the Full Moon when the moon is bright and full.
