On Tuesday, August 1st we have the first of two Full Super Moons this month, the first being in the air sign of Aquarius.
The Full Moon is a time of contrast, offering an opportunity to embrace our true, authentic selves.
As the Sun in Leo gazes adoringly across the sky at the Moon in Aquarius, the Sun illuminates our conscious awareness and the Moon reflects what is hidden within us, allowing us to understand our shadows and our gifts.
Leo and Aquarius are on the fixed axis of the ego. The sign of Leo represents the individual, while Aquarius represents society, which is made up of individuals.
Complex Aquarius has two planetary rulers: Saturn and Uranus. Torn between the past and the future, these rulers often collide with one another. Saturn sets the boundaries and Uranus pushes past them. A future focused sign of radicalisation and independence, the themes of Aquarius surround our society and group mentality.
At its opposite, fiery Leo is ruled by the Sun. Just as the Sun is at the heart of our Solar System, Leo represents the main character on the stage of life. Vibrant, creative, taking centre stage; Leo is the star of the show.
A flash of the future lights up the sky as we actively create our reality at this Full Moon, illuminating something larger than the self. For what use is the star of a show if there is no stage upon which to shine and an audience for which to shine for?
Leo is the spark that wants to awaken you to the next version of you and in doing so, encourages others to do the same. Its energy is warm, passionate, and heart based.
Aquarius, symbolically known as the water bearer, is a cool energy that uses its cleansing waters to wash away the past, to aid us on a journey to rediscover our brilliance, our radiance, and the power of our authenticity.
Notice, that the water bearer carries the jug, but doesn’t get its own hands wet. With water relating to our emotional realm, an Aquarian will never let their emotions get in the way of making a logical judgement.
Therefore, you may objectively want to consider:
Where in your life can you release the pressure to fit in?
Are you playing a character that isn’t yours?
Have you been paying too much attention to the opinions of others?
Or are you rebelling and kicking against the grain so much so that you are trying to be different for no real reason?
The frequency of Aquarius is complex. On the one hand, Aquarius energy forms community, structures, networks, and influences belief systems. On the other hand, it challenges the status quo to break through these societal norms.
Our quest is one of self-actualisation or
Unfortunately, our homogenous society is not quite set up to celebrate our uniqueness. Are there times where you are suppressing your true nature because it is not accepted by the people around you? Do you fear rejection so much that you are willing to reject parts of yourself to fit in?
Part of the journey of individuation is to bring elements of the collective (Aquarius) and personal (Leo) unconscious to light, so that we can better understand ourselves.
The self is relational, and individuation is dependent upon relationships with others. By becoming more accepting of ourselves, we become more accepting of others. It’s about seeing differences whilst also living in equality.
This Full Moon will form a wide square to Jupiter in Taurus. Squares in the chart create tension that we cannot ignore. Jupiter in Taurus highlights where we might be overdoing things or where we may have formed habits that we are not consciously aware of, and these may now come to light.
It takes courage to own your own mess, and to be your true self within the group, to stand out within the crowd, to really know oneself. The cool head of Aquarius will help us to remove these obstacles that block our self-sovereignty and find new, innovative solutions to move forward.
The ideal is to find the sweet spot, to balance these two signs. Too much Leo leads to self-indulgence and too much Aquarius destroys the individual. We cannot shame ourselves into change, we can only love ourselves into evolution. Say no thank you to anything that is draining your energy and embrace the things that fill your heart up with gladness.
Be the rebel to your former self and choose to do things differently. Show love to the parts of you that challenge the status quo and liberate. And do not forget, that whilst you consider your place in the world, by honouring this new way of doing things, you give others permission to do the same.
