Theme: Clarity Arising From Chaos

On August 19, we have a clarifying Full Moon in Aquarius that will cut through the chaos of recent obstacles and illuminate the most logical path forward, allowing us to take action and make decisions with conviction.

The days leading up to this Full Moon have been fraught with contradictory energy as the Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn formed a rare and powerful Grand Cross in the sky. In astrology, a Grand Cross occurs when at least four planets are 90 degrees apart, creating a large square and two oppositions.

The energy between planets in this aspect works at cross-purposes and causes tension that pushes us toward change. In this case, we were experiencing a push-pull between our desire for expansion and growth and our need for certainty.

Over the last month, many of us have attempted to implement plans and embark on new trajectories, but it may seem like you keep running into walls, and things are struggling to get off the ground.

You might be juggling several commitments and reluctant to narrow them down or grappling with a decision you’ve already made, unable to feel fully settled or invested.

On some level, this is a manifestation of our inner resistance. We don’t feel like we have all the information yet or the clarity we need to feel safe, so every time a challenge appears, we assume it’s a sign we’re going in the wrong direction and become suspicious. All of this has contributed to the sense of overwhelm, anxiety, and self-doubt we’ve been experiencing lately.

Because Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, its energy encapsulates chaos, risk, and unexpected events—it shakes things up, helps us see situations from totally new perspectives, and pushes us out of our comfort zone to find solutions.

If we have analyzed all sides of an issue and every option starts to seem equally appealing and threatening, this means we have lost contact with our intuition. When this happens, sometimes a radical shift is needed to bring us back into alignment and get us out of our thinking mind.

And that is ultimately what this Full Moon is all about—receiving clarity and solutions from unexpected sources. It is showing us that there is always a way through if we have enough audacity and determination, and there are no wrong answers: only stuck and not stuck.

Just because things feel challenging or unstable does not always mean they’re not working. Sometimes, a little destabilization gives us the grit and insight we need to stay the course. It helps weed out who is serious and who has one foot out the door, and it forces us to see answers we wouldn’t have considered otherwise.

We are still in the midst of a Mercury retrograde, so that energy is also influencing current events. The day before the Full Moon, Mercury will meet up with the Sun in Leo, and this could initiate the flash of insight or clarity we’ve been waiting for.

Things may feel chaotic right now, but when the dust settles, you may be surprised to find that everything has fallen into place, and it’s even better than you could have initially imagined.

Ultimately, this Full Moon represents a breakthrough moment when we will finally understand the value of recent challenges and begin to see them, not as deterrents, but as tests of strength and proof that we can do hard things.

Above all, it will remind us of the beautifully, unpredictable nature of the universe—that order always arises out of chaos and sometimes the greatest truths are discovered under the most absurd circumstances.

Ritual: Dreaming Up Solutions

Often when we feel blocked or stuck, we have lost touch with our intuition and become overly attached to how things should be and how we may be perceived. Part of being human means that we base our expectations on our past experiences, and this can get in the way when we’re trying to problem-solve—we don’t know what we don’t know.

If we have exhausted ourselves mulling over possible scenarios, sometimes the best thing we can do is create space for the universe to intervene and show us the way. One way of opening yourself to unexpected solutions is to write the issue on a piece of paper and put it under your pillow before bed. Before going to sleep or during meditation, ask the universe for guidance and do your best to release any resistance, welcoming any and all ideas to come forward.

You can also apply a dream ointment to your pulse points and third eye before going to sleep.

Keep a pen and notebook beside your bed and write down any symbols or metaphors you can remember from your dreams. Try your best not to check your phone as soon as you wake up and spend a few minutes paying attention to any ideas or feelings that may have surfaced.

Record whatever comes up, no matter how silly it seems. Giving yourself the freedom and space to explore unfiltered will not only develop your self-confidence and intuition, but hopefully help you see situations from new perspectives and come up with creative solutions.
