On October 2, we have the final Libra eclipse in the Aries/Libra cycle that began in early 2023.
Although this is a solar eclipse and a New Moon, which typically represent new beginnings, we will also be closing a chapter and shedding attachments that no longer align with where we’re going.
Libra is a sign that rules partnerships and contracts of all types—it represents the promises we make to others and to ourselves and the sacrifices required to uphold those commitments.
Therefore, this eclipse is asking us to reevaluate the agreements we have made over the last two years and consider whether they support or inhibit our growth.
Eclipses always occur near the North and South nodes of the Moon—the North node represents where we are going, while the South node embodies what we are leaving behind.
When we have an eclipse at the South node, it typically indicates an ending of some sort; however, unlike the spring eclipses, the effects of this one may feel more muted. At this point, you are likely aware of what needs to change.
The lunar eclipse in Pisces two weeks ago revealed what was hidden in plain sight—this may have been something you were aware of but not willing to acknowledge, or in other cases, a shocking revelation you didn’t see coming.
A clear before and after has been established—there’s no going back because we can’t unknow what we’ve discovered.
Armed with this knowledge and the wisdom of lessons learned throughout this eclipse cycle, we are ready to make a conscious choice…
Will you commit to your current path, knowing what is at stake and the sacrifices it will require, or will you sever those ties and embark on a new journey?
Of ultimate concern are our promises to ourselves—all other decisions must flow from here. We cannot honour our personal journey in situations that keep us small and continually ask us to betray ourselves or access our highest timeline when acting out of line with our values and beliefs.
South node attachments are some of the hardest to let go of—these ways of being are wrapped up in our unmet needs and often play out in our relationships.
In Libra, this can look like people pleasing to avoid conflict and abandonment or giving up our interests and goals to support others.
Libra energy embodies our universal need to feel loved—and its shadow aspect encompasses the maladaptive ways we go about receiving that love, whether it is over-giving, saying what people want to hear, allowing others to take advantage of us, or making decisions based on what will elevate our social or financial status.
Once you identify the wound at the wheel, you can get honest with yourself about why you are attached to certain people and situations and start making more empowering choices.
Eclipses have traditionally been feared due to their chaotic nature, but this New Moon will be highly supported by a Grand Water Trine between Venus, Mars, and Saturn.
Trines allow energy to flow easily, encouraging our actions and decisions by removing obstacles and creating ideal conditions.
If you’ve been on the fence about something for a while, you may have a strong sense that now is the time to initiate your plans.
Trines also represent what we accept without resistance, so if you are on the right track, you will likely experience a sense of relief and calm after deciding what to do. Because Saturn always shifts focus to the bigger picture, it will be important to keep your long-term happiness in mind when considering how to move forward.
Ultimately, this eclipse is all about commitment—committing to who we want to become, committing to moving forward instead of back, and committing to the people who feel safe, that we can trust, and who want the best for us.
What is occurring now probably feels inevitable—you knew this day would come. It’s time to choose yourself by choosing those relationships and opportunities that will take you closer to your full potential instead of further from it and release attachments that only serve to remind you of old wounds and mistreatment.
We must decide whether to walk away or commit wholeheartedly, understanding that in either scenario, what comes next will ask everything of you.
Eclipse season will continue until October 17. If you want to learn more about the Do’s and Don’ts of Thriving During Eclipse Season, check out our eclipse survival guide.

Ritual: Tarot Decision Spread
Note: Many people avoid setting intentions or engaging in rituals during eclipses due to their volatile and unpredictable nature. You may wish to perform this ritual before or after the eclipse.
Reading tarot cards is an excellent way to use archetypes and metaphors to understand your intuition and develop self-trust.
A decision spread examines the energy of two possible paths, helping you decide which to take.
Before beginning, clarify the two options you are weighing. You can use these questions to guide you:
Should I stay or should I go?
What will happen if I accept this opportunity? What will happen if I don’t?
What is the future of my relationship with x? What is ahead for me if I walk away?
Shuffle your deck and draw three cards to represent each option, then interpret the message.
You will likely get an immediate sense of which path you’re drawn to. It should ideally confirm your intuition and instincts.
