Theme: Unique Hybrid Eclipse

This week we have a rare and profound Hybrid Solar Eclipse which occurs in only 3% or so of eclipses. They happen about every 10 years or so.

Even though it won’t be seen from most parts of the world, (western Australia will see it the most) the impacts will still be felt for many of us! And especially those with Aries placements.

The hybrid eclipse is a combination of two types of eclipses – Total and Annular. Most eclipses are just one or the other or partial. So this in itself offers us an opportunity to do things differently.

As the saying goes “As above, so below” so we can use the rarity of this event to also begin doing things differently in our own lives.

So what does this mean for you?

An eclipse in the sign of Aries brings the themes associated with Aries to the forefront. Aries is going to be a prominent and powerful sign over the next year as the Nodes of the Moon (aka Rahu and Ketu) are now shifting onto the Libra/Aries axis where they will be all through this year and 2024.

They have been in Scorpio/Taurus for the past year and are fading out of those signs throughout this year. The themes of Scorpio/Taurus have been about balancing our spiritual life with our tangible 3D life and bringing the spiritual into our daily lives. We’re coming through some big and hefty internal transformations, and the shift in nodes to Fire and Air signs will be a welcome change for many of us.

This shift in nodes brings a shift in life themes for all of us, even if we have no Libra or Aries placements. For those with their personal nodes in Aries, this shift highlights our relationships and our need for independence and healthy interdependence. We may see unexpected endings, new starts in love done in a completely new way and an emphasis on creating new styles of relationships.

The lesson of the Aries/Libra axis is for us to learn to be independent while in relationship, and be in relationship while remaining sovereign. The ideal balance is to be interdependent, that is the highest exemplification of this axis. This is where we realize we need both – freedom and security, connection and separation, closeness and distance.

This dance will be super strong over the coming year, and with it may come a renewal of old fashioned relationships on the one end, and completely new styles of open relationships on the other end. There may be cultural wars over which is right and better.

We’ll have to look at the ways we’ve glorified independence and individuality at the cost of our romantic relationships.

Generally speaking eclipses signal endings, beginnings and major life events and changes.

If we trace back to previous eclipses we can often pinpoint major life changes occurring around the time they occurred. You can see previous eclipse dates here.

Eclipses are not to be feared, but to be revered, as change is a natural part of life. Each eclipse has different power levels and ways it will uniquely impact us depending on our own individual charts.

Some years we’ll feel eclipses deeper than other times depending if the eclipse is aspecting personal points in our charts.

We can find ourselves feeling tired near an eclipse, or confused, feeling a lot but not knowing where it’s coming from, sentimental for the past, missing people or involved in drama. People can come into our lives unexpectedly, and leave as quickly as they came.

Unlike a typical New Moon, an eclipse is not a great time to set intentions for the lunar cycle. It’s a great time to rest, reflect and take it easy and to meditate. In Vedic Astrology, eclipses are one of the most auspicious occurrences. It’s not recommended to start projects, jobs, relationships, contracts etc., for the week before and after the eclipse.

It’s best to rest, go inward, be yin and take it easy (of course so many things in life can’t be avoided, so don’t stress if you have things you need to do or sign during this time!)

This Aries eclipse is also in a fire sign, so can bring a strong sense of agitation, anger and brashness. Be patient, be kind and take it easy over the coming week or so.

With this Eclipse also in a square to Pluto, the planet of transformation… It’s an ideal time to really fully and completely make the changes you need to make. Shift the patterns and chart a new course. Every eclipse is an opportunity to connect deeper with our spirit, to listen to the wisdom within and to take actions based on that wisdom.

Aries gives us the strength and power to take action. Channel and charge forth with the energy of the Ram – the Aries symbol. 🔥
