Something Is Ready to Shift

The New Moon in Scorpio arrives on November 9, opening a new lunar cycle just days before Mercury and Venus both turn direct. After weeks of reflection, the energy is preparing to move forward again.

Scorpio brings us beneath the surface of our lives. It draws our attention to the feelings we’ve buried and the truths we’ve been reluctant to acknowledge.

Under this Moon, a situation that has been difficult to understand may finally begin making sense.

Scorpio is a sign of emotional depth and transformation. It asks us to examine what we hold close and why. A relationship may represent safety. A familiar situation may give us a sense of control. Understanding the needs underneath these attachments can change how we approach them.

Trust is another important theme. Our experiences shape how willing we are to open up, especially after disappointment. You may recognize where an old hurt is still influencing your choices or discover that you feel more secure in yourself than you once did.

Scorpio also carries the energy of regeneration. We often recognize how much we’ve grown when life presents us with a familiar challenge and we respond differently. This New Moon may reveal just how much has changed within you.

Mercury is still retrograde in Scorpio, bringing unfinished conversations and old questions back into focus. On November 4, Mercury met the Sun in a cazimi, a moment traditionally associated with insight.

A realization from earlier in the month may now be helping you see the past differently.

Venus is also retrograde in Libra, continuing the relationship review that began in October. Your understanding of what you need from connection may have changed. An old dynamic could deserve different terms, especially if your priorities have shifted.

On November 13, Mercury and Venus both station direct. After weeks of reconsideration, the energy begins turning toward forward movement. An unresolved conversation may finally progress. A decision you’ve been sitting with could become easier to make.

This is what makes the Scorpio New Moon so interesting. It arrives just before that turning point, offering a chance to recognize what has changed inside you before those realizations begin influencing your outer life.

Mars and Jupiter in Leo also add a strong desire for movement, forming a wide square to the New Moon. You may feel eager to act on plans you’ve been considering for weeks. Allow yourself enough time to make choices you can stand behind once the initial excitement settles.

The days ahead may bring a different perspective on a situation that once held considerable emotional power. You could find yourself ready to approach it in a way you wouldn’t have considered a month ago.

What you’ve learned during this retrograde season may be preparing you for a meaningful new beginning.

As Mercury and Venus begin moving forward, the decisions you make can reflect the understanding you’ve gained.

Something is ready to shift.

How This New Moon Affects Our Relationships

With Yourself

You may understand a personal pattern more clearly than you did a month ago.

Perhaps you’ve recognized why you react strongly to a particular situation. Or you’ve begun questioning a belief that has influenced your decisions for years.

Give that realization some room. Self-understanding can change what you’re willing to participate in.

Romantic Relationships

With Venus retrograde nearing its end, this New Moon can bring a more mature understanding of what you need from partnership.

An old disagreement may look different now. You could recognize where a relationship deserves renewed effort or where an expectation needs to change.

Allow the insight to settle before deciding what it means for the future.

Family & Friendships

Some of our deepest emotional patterns develop in relationships we’ve known for years.

This New Moon may help you recognize why a familiar interaction affects you so strongly. Understanding the history behind your reaction can give you more freedom in how you respond.

Collective & Emotional Climate

Archetype: The Alchemist

The archetype surrounding this New Moon is The Alchemist.

The Alchemist takes a difficult experience and discovers what can be learned from it.

Scorpio is associated with the parts of life that change us deeply. An experience may leave us with a greater understanding of what matters. A disappointment can teach us about trust in ways we could only have learned by living through it.

With Mercury and Venus both approaching their direct stations, the collective atmosphere may feel ready for resolution.

People may become more willing to address situations they’ve been thinking about for weeks. Old disagreements could return with a different perspective.

The Alchemist reminds us that experience becomes wisdom when we understand what it has taught us.

Key Energies to Work With

Emotional Understanding

A feeling you’ve struggled to explain may become easier to understand. Give yourself time to recognize what has been underneath it.

Renewed Trust

Scorpio brings attention to trust. You may understand what would help you feel more secure in a relationship or where trust needs to be rebuilt.

Changing Values

Venus retrograde has encouraged a deeper examination of what matters to you. Let what you’ve learned influence your future commitments.

Inner Conviction

Mars and Jupiter in Leo can strengthen your desire to move forward. Choose a direction that still feels meaningful once the initial excitement settles.

How to Work With This New Moon

This New Moon is especially suited to intentions that come from greater self-understanding.

Consider what the past several weeks have taught you. There may be a relationship you want to approach differently or a personal commitment that deserves renewed attention.

Because Mercury and Venus remain retrograde until November 13, allow yourself time to develop your intentions before making major decisions. Their direct stations may bring a stronger sense of direction, although some questions will take longer to resolve.

Scorpio favors intentions with emotional meaning. Think about what you genuinely want to change in your life and why it matters to you.

Helpful Practices

  • Reflect on what October taught you.
  • Address an unfinished emotional conversation.
  • Set an intention based on what you understand now.
  • Allow trust to develop through consistent behavior.
  • Give an important decision room to mature.

Things to Avoid

  • Rushing a decision to escape uncertainty.
  • Returning to a pattern simply because it’s familiar.
  • Treating a strong feeling as the complete picture.
  • Demanding immediate answers from another person.
  • Ignoring what recent experiences have taught you.

Who Will Feel This New Moon Most?

This New Moon may feel particularly significant for those with personal planets or angles near 14°–20° of Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, or Aquarius.

Scorpio and Taurus placements may experience the questions around trust and emotional security most directly.

Because Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio and Venus is retrograde in Libra, those signs may also experience a stronger sense of reassessment.

Journaling Prompts

  • What do I understand about myself now that I didn’t understand in October?
  • Which relationship has taught me something important recently?
  • Where has my definition of trust changed?
  • What am I ready to approach differently?
  • What intention feels meaningful based on what I know today?

What This New Moon Wants You to Remember

The past several weeks may have changed how you understand an important part of your life.

You may still be working through what that means.

With Mercury and Venus preparing to move direct, there is a growing opportunity to act from a deeper understanding of yourself.

Let what you know now shape what you choose next.

Ritual: A Letter From Your Future Self

Find a quiet place with your journal.

Imagine yourself a month from now, after Mercury and Venus have been moving direct for several weeks.

Think about a situation that has occupied your thoughts during retrograde season.

Now write a short letter from that future version of yourself, beginning with:

“I’m glad you finally understood…”

Let the letter describe what became clearer and how that understanding changed your choices.

When you’re finished, underline one sentence that feels especially meaningful.

Turn it into a simple intention:

“With what I know now, I choose to…”

Keep the letter somewhere private. Return to it in December and see how your understanding has developed.
