Full Moon in Scorpio ~ Thursday May 7, 2020 @ 3:45am PST~ Theme: Deep Emotions

Full Moon in Scorpio Thursday May 7th @ 3:45am PST

A Scorpio Full Moon is anything but subtle.

This week the Full Moon occurs in the sign of Scorpio, just a week after it’s modern ruler, Pluto went retrograde at the end of April . This combo brings all of our deepest darkest shadowy emotions to the surface to be cleansed, purified and transformed.

The Moon is at it’s fall here, which can indicate more challenging emotions coming up.

When planets go retrograde we feel the effects on a more internal level. So instead of expecting outward life changes, we can expect big inner shifts this week, especially on the emotional level.

Scorpio energy is like a river rushing under a sheet of ice – the water is there constantly flowing, and though we may not see it below the surface until we crack the ice. Let yourself be deeply moved by emotion this week.

When we crack through the ice and allow ourselves to feel deeply, to let raw emotion move us into action, we begin the process of  transformation.

Crack the ice, let it flow.

When big emotions arise, allow yourself to feel it all and feel it big. Let it out! If it’s grief, cry. If it’s anger, scream. If it’s painful, don’t run from it.

Full Moon Contemplation: What am I not allowing myself to feel?

Scorpio is the sign associated with alchemy. Once we tune into and feel the emotions we’ve been unwilling to face, the internal alchemical process begins.

For many, this Full Moon could feel like a personal awakening where we’re faced to face with anything we’ve been scared to look at. Alchemy then turns the challenging feelings within us into gold.

A Full Moon is a profound time for this emotional release. It’s like an energetic balloon starts filling up at the New Moon, and by the Full Moon it’s bulging. The Full Moon is the precipice, the balloon is full, and pops, and the cycle begins again.

It’s not uncommon to feel deeply around a Full Moon – this one will certainly be amplified!

The Lunar Nodes also switch signs the day before the Full Moon. This impact will be felt for the next 18 months. Rahu and Ketu are karmic points in our charts. They have been in Cancer/Capricorn for the last 18 months highlighting our work/life balance and how we operate our masculine/feminine energies.

The nodes are now moving into the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. Gemini is the student, and Sagittarius is the teacher.

This cycle will have us focused on learning new skills and being students again. We can no longer pretend we have all the answers. Many of us will learn new skills or go back to school.

The key with the lunar nodes is to balance them. Balance being a teacher and knowing it all, with being a humble student, willing and ready to learn.

Gemini is also the natural ruler of the 3rd house, the house related to local life. Ketu is in Sagittarius which is the natural ruler of the 9th house, the house associated with travel.

There will be much less foreign travel occurring over the next 18 months as Sagittarius naturally rules the house of travel. Now is the time to focus on building your local family and community!

Full Moon Ritual – best done under the bright light of the moon

  1. Have a pen and paper handy
  2. Take some time to meditate by listening to some music, using a mantra, anything that works to get you into a meditative space
  3. Close your eyes and feel deep into your heart – don’t rush this process, really feel into it
  4. When you feel ready to write down one area or specific thing (or person) in your life it’s time to let go of (ideally related to where the full moon is happening in your chart, see your Rising Sign above).
  5. Have a container of water nearby, and burn the piece of paper (use tweezers to hold it without burning your fingertips). As it burns really imagine letting it go.
  6. After you’ve let it go, cleanse – bath with rose petals, salts, crystals, feel the energy of this issue, pattern, person, whatever it is really drain from your system as the water drains.
  7. Put on some nice fun dancey music
  8. Dance in the moonlight!
  9. Pull some tarot or oracle cards for advice for the next month until the next full moon (‘What do I need to know about the next month?’)

WHAT is a FULL MOON?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun and moon are opposite each other. This creates a sense of tension. It’s when the sun shines the most light on the moon. The Sun is our conscious and the Moon is the unconscious. Si it’s an ideal time to LET GO and to bring the dark into the light to be released.

Every Full Moon is a chance to look back at the intentions you planted two weeks ago during the New Moon. What were they? How have they manifested? Are you taking action toward them? Now is the time to reassess and release anything standing in the way of your hearts desires. The two weeks between the New and Full Moon is a great time for new beginnings. The two weeks after the Full Moon is time to let go.

When we plant our New Moon intentions, we can’t just plant the seeds and wait for them to grow. We need to fertilize the soul, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight – most importantly we need to weed and pluck out that which doesn’t serve us. The Full Moon helps us ‘pluck’ out the weeds.

When the moon is full, a light shines on the areas of our lives it’s time to release and let go.
