A rare and majestic Full Super Moon will fill our sky on August 30th.
Within the deeply feeling sign of Pisces, we can expect to be swept up in the tides of our emotions and the more subtle energies. This Full Moon has a greater than usual gravitational pull on our tides. Popularly accepted as a ‘blue moon,’ we are presented now with this rare and amplified occurrence.
Ruled by the planet Neptune, this is an illumination of our inner feeling world and the unseen realms. Pisces offers up a watery, yin energy for the things that are invisible or intangible. Pisces energy is the sweet release of surrendering to the unknown, merging with something bigger than itself, something more Divine.
Pisces, and its opposing sign Virgo, sit on the axis of service and healing. Virgo is our physical body and practical service and Pisces is our spiritual connection.
What happens in the physical realm affects the spiritual realm, and vice versa.
Pisces rules our dreamworld, fantasy and the unseen. Virgo is discerning and practical and will pick out the details. A Full Moon in Pisces is an opportunity for a psychic spring clean. for letting go, for purifying, and cleansing anew.
The mutable energy of Pisces and Virgo is teaching us how to adapt, how to learn that change can be a positive thing. Change is happening all of the time but we often like to hang on.
This lunation illuminates where we need to practice greater compassion, both towards ourselves and others, especially through times of change. It is also shining a light on disillusionment, disappointment, deception, scandals – things may not be quite what they seem.
If you find that doors are closing during this Full Moon, it is important that you let them close, with love.
Venus retrograde has been stirring up our relationships, in a bid to heal outdated patterns of behaviour. Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, is the higher octave of Venus. Where Venus represents earthly and romantic love, Neptune represents the deepest divine love and unconditional love.
If things have been tricky or challenging, here is a chance to bathe under a deeply healing and divine stream of love. Spend as much time as you can in water, near water, cleansing and purifying with water, and drinking water.
This Full Moon will meet Saturn in Pisces. Saturn will take a sober look at our emotions and try to pop the bubbles of our fantasies.
Saturn says ‘let’s get real’. How can you ground your spiritual ideals into reality, with daily habits and discipline?
Saturn brings the discipline and focus we need to give those fluffy, ephemeral daydreams some scaffolding, so that we can turn our dreams into something solid that is built to last.
So, pay close attention to your dreams and their messages at this time.
Six planets are now retrograde, including Mercury and Venus. Things could feel really slow until early October. It may feel like you are stuck, as if nothing will change, and intense emotions may stir.
Trust this time and practice patience. The work you do now will bear fruit later. Allow yourself to really feel. Feeling shows us who we really are – our emotions reveal messages to us about what we desire and what is important to us.
You’ve got to feel if you truly want to heal.
Notice where you turn to numbing when the feelings become overwhelming or too much. It may be useful to ask for support at this time, to help you to navigate the emotional depths. Or you may choose to find other ways to transfer the energy, such as through creative expression, music, dance, or a daily spiritual practice.
This can be a good time to get curious. Like, really curious. Virgo season will support this. Use your discernment and assess the messages that are being revealed through your dreams, through your relationships and through the realm of your emotions. Creative writing or dream journaling may reveal hidden insights, and may prove to be a very valuable resource.

Pisces Full Moon Ritual Bath
In honor of connecting with the water element, it’s a great time to do a water releasing ritual. This is one that I love to do on The Full Moon as a practice of getting into my body and allowing water to help me release. Full Moon’s are the best time to release.
- Fill a bucket or bowl with fresh water (filtered if possible) or fill your bathtub up with water
- Add whatever you like – crystals, flowers, rose water, herbs, essential oils, epsom salts – anything that feels good to you
- If you’re using a bucket or bowel, use a cloth to wash yourself, as you do, imagine yourself releasing anything you’re ready to let go of. Ask the power of the moon to support you as you release it
- If you’re in the bath do the same, wash yourself and imagine anything you’re ready to release wash down the drain
- Take your time and really enjoy this, be present with yourself, speak words of love and care to yourself and your body
- Afterward, use lotion, oil or something soothing and put all over your body.
- Dance in the moonlight!
