Vedic Astrology: Full Moon in Scorpio Report (June 9, 2017)

I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them. ~ Oscar Wilde

On Friday, June 9th, our Full Moon will fall within Scorpio, activating our hidden emotions, buried secrets and our most guarded insecurities.

You have likely felt this slow burn rising, jealousies, dramas, fiery inner monologues all beginning to float to the surface, demanding they be seen. Full Moon energies are known to elevate our emotional tendencies, and when we combine this with the potency and promise of Scorpio’s sharp tongue, we can be in for a wild ride.

What have you been pushing down, stuffing away, scorching from your consciousness, all in the pursuit to seem fair-minded, balanced, gentle and pure?

What secret inclinations have been buzzing in your mind, just waiting for the open window to make themselves known? This Full Moon can offer an opportunity to let these more private emotions have space to breathe. It is important however to always offer what truths you have with clarity and tact, so as to not sting another with this Scorpion’s tail. This Full Moon is also in very close proximity to retrograde Saturn, so be aware that past emotional grievances may make a return and beg to be addressed.

June 9th also marks the end of Jupiter’s retrograde motion, and a welcoming back of forward momentum and hope.

Plans, hope and dreams that have seemed to be indefinitely placed on the back burner will now have space to become reality once more. We can all breathe a sigh of relief as we enjoy a summer of Jupiter’s direct blessings!

These alignments are in accordance with Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish, which utilizes the Sidereal Zodiac to determine the placements of the planets. There is a 23.8 degree difference between the Western or Tropical Zodiac placements and what we observe from a Vedic standpoint. As each Zodiac sign is 30 degrees, this 23.8 degree difference can often create a full sign shift backwards, which is why when you look to our nightsky, you will actually see this Full Moon fall inside of the sign of Scorpio and not Sagittarius.

If you are interested in observing the planetary placements according to the Sidereal or current placements, the smartphone app SkyView is an amazing tool, allowing you to point your phone in any direction and observe the planetary placements in the constellations of our night sky.
